String-lit seafront terrace with umbrellas looking over the beach and bay at Restaurant Tulip in Rafailovići

Restaurant Tulip

A highly rated seafront restaurant on the Rafailovići promenade, with a string-lit terrace looking straight out over the beach and the bay towards Budva. The kitchen leans on the day's catch, whole grilled fish, prawns and seafood pasta, alongside Mediterranean plates, and the sunset view from the umbrella-shaded tables is a big part of the draw. There is an Italian side to it too: the kitchen describes its pizza as made with Italian flour and a long fermentation for a light, crisp crust, and its ravioli as a delicate pasta with a juicy filling and an aromatic sauce. Tables can be reserved through the restaurant's own website or over WhatsApp.

String-lit courtyard with wooden benches at night under the BURA sign at Bura Pub in Budva

Bura Pub

A relaxed craft-beer pub a few streets back from the Budva seafront, with a string-lit courtyard of wooden benches and a snug, poster-covered interior. The draught line-up of craft beers is the main event, poured alongside smash burgers and pub snacks, a low-key, good-value change of pace from the seafront konobas.

A Montenegrin salad on a seafront table overlooking the Pržno bay and boats at Konoba More

Konoba More

A characterful stone konoba right on the Pržno seafront, the next cove along from Bečići, walls hung with ship's wheels, clocks and a Poseidon mosaic, and tables set out over the little bay. Fresh fish and seafood in proper Montenegrin style, with the boats and turquoise water a few steps away. The konoba puts the age of its own building at around 500 years, which is part of why the room feels the way it does, and the tables it sets out on the terrace above the water are as much of the draw as the specialities of its kitchen.

Grilled prawns and seafood risotto on a garden-terrace table at Restaurant Atlantic in Rafailovići

Restaurant Atlantic

One of Rafailovići's most popular seafood restaurants, set in a leafy garden terrace a few steps back from the water. The kitchen turns out grilled prawns, octopus, seafood risotto and whole fish with a light touch, and the shaded, vine-covered courtyard is a cool retreat from the midday sun.

Linen-topped tables under a canopy of grapevines on the terrace at Restoran Drago above Sveti Stefan

Restoran Drago

A family-run restaurant in the village above Sveti Stefan, with a shaded terrace built under a canopy of grapevines and set with linen-topped tables. The kitchen does Montenegrin and Mediterranean home cooking, grilled meats and fish, fresh salads and grilled vegetables, a relaxed, good-value stop a short walk uphill from the famous island. It is not a recent arrival: the Radjenović family opened it in 1967, which makes it one of the longest-running kitchens on this stretch of coast, and the restaurant places itself in the centre of the settlement about 150 metres back from the water. Tables can be booked by phone, which is worth doing in high summer.
