May–June & September–October — the sweet spot
For most travellers, late spring and early autumn are the best time to visit. Days are warm and comfortable (around 20–28°C) and mostly sunny, and there are fewer crowds than midsummer — with pleasant evenings for dining out and strolling the seafront. The Adriatic warms slowly, so the sea is briskest in late spring; it reaches a comfortable 25–26°C by August and holds into September, which means an early-autumn trip gets the warmest water of the year with thinner crowds. July & August — peak summer
