Getting to Bečići, Montenegro: Airports & Transfers

··3 min read·By Becici.net Editorial

Bečići sits on the Budva Riviera, right next to Budva on Montenegro's Adriatic coast. There is no airport or train on the Riviera itself, so getting here means flying into one of two nearby airports and driving down to the coast — a short, scenic transfer along the sea. Here is how the journey works. For the full detail see our getting-here guide.

The two nearest airports

  • Tivat (TIV) — the closest, about 23 km northwest on the Bay of Kotor. It has seasonal flights from across Europe in summer and is only a 25–30 minute taxi or private transfer along the coast via Budva — reckon on roughly €25–45 for a taxi, more in peak summer, and agree the fare before setting off.
  • Podgorica (TGD) — Montenegro's main airport, about 65 km northeast with year-round flights, roughly an hour and a quarter by car or transfer to the coast (allow up to 1.5 hours in summer traffic); a taxi or fixed transfer is around €50–60.

A third option is Dubrovnik (Croatia), around 90 km up the coast and busy in summer — but that route involves a border crossing, so allow extra time.

From the airport to Bečići

There is no direct rail link, so from either airport you reach Bečići by:

  • Private transfer — the simplest option, pre-booked door to door; worth it after a flight or with luggage.
  • Taxi — readily available at the airports; agree the fare or confirm the meter before setting off.
  • Car hire — handy if you want to explore the Riviera and the Bay of Kotor; the coastal Adriatic Highway links the airports to Budva and Bečići.

Because Tivat and Podgorica flight schedules and transfer options vary by season, it is worth arranging your transfer when you book, especially for high summer.

Getting around once you're here

Bečići effectively runs into Budva next door, and the two are linked by a seaside promenade, local buses and, in summer, taxi-boats along the coast. That makes Budva's old town, marina and bus station easy to reach for onward trips. Along the Riviera and up to the Bay of Kotor, local buses and organised day trips do most of the work; a rental car gives you the most freedom.

Montenegro uses the euro (€), so no currency change is needed if you are arriving from the eurozone. For costs, cash and connectivity on the ground, see our practical info; for what to do once you arrive, our things to do.
